Margaret Virginia Heinricy, a lifelong educator who taught generations of Pueblans in fifth grade at Morton Elementary School, died September 4 at her home in Pueblo.

Margaret grew up on her family's farm in Strasburg, Colorado, the daughter of Charlie and Daveda Warberg Heinricy. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder's College of Music with an emphasis on choral music and was known for her expressive singing voice and passion for song.

In addition to her fifth-grade classes, Margaret directed many citywide choral groups and music programs. In her free time, Margaret was an award-winning China painter and enjoyed cheering on Colorado's sports teams.

Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, John, and her dear friend and fellow educator Mary Ellen Kimsey. She is survived by her many cousins and will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23, at 2 p.m. at the Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, 2710 N. Elizabeth Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CU College of Music and the Fine Arts and Humanities Department at Pueblo Community College.
